To Whom It May Concern,

I strongly support District Attorney Thom LeDoux in his campaign for reelection. Thom was hired by our District in 2006 because of his reputation as an outstanding trial lawyer and ethical felony prosecutor in the Pueblo DA's Office. He was also a good fit for the job, having grown up in the 11th Judicial District and returned after law school to raise his own family here. His performance as a Deputy and Chief Deputy District Attorney for our Office were exemplary. He successfully prosecuted many of the most serious and complex cases in the District, and did so with fairness and integrity.  I was grateful then, as I have been many times, for Thom's good judgment, dedication to justice and his skill in getting the job done. I asked Thom to run for District Attorney in 2008 because I wanted the District Attorney's Office to be in good hands. It has been.  Thom is a leader in the courtroom, encouraging his prosecutors to seek a just result in every case and trying cases with his deputies throughout the District. He has revolutionized technology in the courtroom, giving his prosecutors the tools to effectively communicate the evidence to judges and juries. He has been fiscally responsible, managing to increase efficiency through technology while absorbing staff losses in difficult economic times. Despite the demands of managing a four county judicial district, Thom has remained accessible to his staff, law enforcement, crime victims and the community. Most importantly, he has demonstrated his fitness for the job in upholding the mission of the District Attorney--the pursuit of justice--above the pursuit of any personal agenda. It has been my honor and my pleasure to work with District Attorney Thom LeDoux and I look forward to voting for him again.

To the editor:

The president and vice president of the Colorado State District Attorney's Council are elected by their peers. Our Fremont County District Attorney Thom LeDoux is the current vice president of this council and is the new president-elect. This means that the DA's from metropolitan areas, such as Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Aspen, Grand Junction, Boulder, Durango and the rest of the cities and populace counties throughout the state elected Thom to lead them. This is very significant.

Since becoming our District Attorney, Mr. LeDoux was saddled, like all county offices, with a diminishing budget. This did not deter him. In fact, he has been very fiscally responsible. For three years, he has cut every line item in the DA budget yet maintained a high level of prosecution and has maintained a very good working relationship with local law enforcement.

A good example of this was his successful two-week murder prosecution in the Durgan case here in Fremont County. Unlike so many wheeler-dealer D.A.s, he did plea bargain with two co-defendants in the case in order to secure a strong conviction, but the two did not fare so well themselves as they are both serving a combined 120 years in Department of Corrections. The killer himself got Life Imprisonment with zero possibility of parole.

Thom LeDoux has been an outstanding District Attorney for us and is being challenged for re-election. There is an old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I personally am contributing to his campaign and invite you to join me and insure he remains our District Attorney.

Don Bendell,

Thom K. LeDoux for District Attorney 2012.
