Prosecution: Just a few of the highlights - 14,254 Total Cases: 1,754 Felonies; 1,004 Juveniles; 5,227 Misdemeanors and 6,184 Traffic. Guilty verdict in Tanner First Degree murder case, life without parole sentence. Defense of post conviction motions in Stoval homicide and Guffey triple homicide cases. Park County Rule 21 Colorado Supreme Court appeal, securing rights for victims of crime. Chaffee County cold rape case (07), guilty verdicts in 2011 = 15 years - life sentence.
Technology: As promised, we have completed the transition to a Digital Office - All files are kept and transmitted in a digital format. Installed wireless network connections in the courthouses. Secure digital file backups in place. Capable of receiving law enforcement reports in a digital format. Created permanent file retention and completed significant case archiving.
Community Involvement: Chaffee: House Bill 1451 Interagency Oversight Group, Wrap Around Team. Fremont: Boys and Girls Club, Build a Generation, House Bill 1451, Senate Bill 94, Rotary. Park: Senate Bill 94 Community Evaluation Team (CET), Adolescent Services Task Force. Custer: Youth Advisory Committee and Prevention Coalition. Member of the 11th JD Domestic Violence Task Forces.
Prevention and Outreach: Juvenile Diversion Program = 100 cases annually of juvenile diversion. Expanded our highly successful Teen Court program into local schools.
Law Enforcement Collaboration: 24/7 on call services. Park County Law Enforcement Quarterly Meetings Hosting Agency. Member Fremont County Combined Investigative Response Team. Conduct annual law enforcement training sessions. Collaborated on creation of Fremont County Sex Assault Task Force (SATF).
Budget: $2 million annual budget, 2009-2011 finished under total budgeted expenses. $230,000 in annual grant funding (11% of our total budget). Phased out an annual $30,000 reserve funding to balance the budget. Increased our Discovery cost recovery by 50%. Reduced staff by more than 20% as a cost saving measure.
