LeDoux Announces District Attorney Candidacy;

Incumbent District Attorney Molly Chilson Endorses the Fremont County Native

Fremont County Chief Deputy District Attorney and Canon City native Thom LeDoux will seek the Republican nomination for District Attorney for Colorado’s Eleventh Judicial District in the November 2008 election.

LeDoux, whose prosecutorial record includes some of the District’s most recent high profile cases, is looking forward to continuing his work in the District.  “The opportunity to be a Deputy District Attorney in Canon City was a dream come true, so being the District Attorney will simply allow me to continue working a job that I love in a community that I love,” said LeDoux.

“With my ties to the community, my experiences as a prosecutor and my working relationship with law enforcement I am confident that I can continue to provide strong representation for the people of the Eleventh Judicial District,” LeDoux said. “Growing up in Canon City, I realize how important a safe community is, even more so now that I have a family of my own,” said LeDoux.  “Being the District Attorney will allow me to continue my work towards keeping that sense of security,” LeDoux said.

Incumbent District Attorney, Molly Chilson, has decided to leave the District Attorney’s Office to spend more time with her family and is endorsing Mr. LeDoux’s candidacy.  “It has been a successful term for the District Attorney’s Office, but it is time for me to do some other things,” said Chilson.  “The office and the District will be in good hands with Mr. LeDoux,” Chilson said.

“Working with Ms. Chilson has been a pleasure, I have learned a lot from her about how to be a lawyer, a boss, and a District Attorney,” said LeDoux.

Mr. LeDoux also has the support of long time Assistant District Attorney Kathy Eberling, who lives in Pueblo County.  “I have the greatest respect for Thom’s abilities as a prosecutor and for his integrity as a person,” said Eberling.  Chaffee County Deputy District Attorney Chip Cutler also supports Mr. LeDoux’s candidacy.  “I have had opportunity both to work with and to watch Mr. LeDoux as a special prosecutor here in Salida.  I believe he will make a strong District Attorney and I look forward to continuing our work together.”

Mr. LeDoux is a graduate of Canon City High School and has been a prosecuting attorney since graduating from the University of Colorado School of Law.  Mr. LeDoux’s prosecutorial career began in the Pueblo County District Attorney’s Office, where he finished as a member of the homicide unit.  Mr. LeDoux lives in Canon City with his wife Lacey LeDoux (Jones), a school teacher, and his daughter Sophia.
