PRESS RELEASE:  December 12, 2011

LeDoux Announces District Attorney Re-Election Campaign;

Current District Attorney and Can͂on City native Thom LeDoux will again seek the Republican nomination for District Attorney for Colorado’s Eleventh Judicial District in the November 2012 election.

LeDoux is looking forward to continuing his work as the District Attorney for Fremont, Park, Chaffee and Custer Counties.  “Being the District Attorney in my home town and for communities that I spent time in growing up has been a dream come true.  In short, I love my job, I love living and raising my family here and I believe that the office and I have earned the opportunity to continue our work for another four years,” said LeDoux.

“Growing up in Can͂on City and spending time throughout the 11th Judicial District, I realize how important a safe community is, even more so now that I have a family of my own,” said LeDoux.  “I am looking forward to continuing my work towards keeping that sense of security for all of us.”

Regarding his current term as District Attorney, “The past three years as the elected District Attorney of the 11th Judicial District have been both challenging and rewarding.  For me personally, I am most proud of the recognition of my fellow elected District Attorneys, when they recently elected me to be the Vice President and President Elect for 2012-2013 of the Colorado District Attorney’s Council.  To have my District Attorney colleagues from around the State of Colorado to ask me to represent them was and is truly an honor,” LeDoux said.

“For the office, I am proud of the fact that we have been able to continue to provide our high level of service under unprecedented budgetary constraints.  In fact, we have thrived despite the financial situation.  We have dramatically improved our use of technology, implementing a “paperless” office program that includes, whenever possible, receiving and providing law enforcement reports in digital form via the internet.  We have maintained our core staff in-tact, avoiding unnecessary turnover and providing for valuable stability within the office.  Finally, we have met or exceeded our budgetary goals in each of the last three years, both by cutting spending in nearly every single budgetary category, while at the same time seeking to increase our allowable cost recovery rates under the law,” LeDoux said.

Mr. LeDoux continues to have the support of long time Assistant District Attorney Kathy Eberling.  “I have the greatest respect for Thom’s abilities as a prosecutor and for his integrity as a person,” said Eberling.

Former elected District Attorney Molly Chilson, who stayed on with the office after her term, now working as the Chaffee County Deputy District Attorney also supports Mr. LeDoux’s candidacy.  “Thom is a leader in the courtroom, encouraging his prosecutors to seek a just result in every case and trying cases with his deputies throughout the District. He has revolutionized technology in the courtroom, giving his prosecutors the tools to effectively communicate the evidence to judges and juries.”

Mr. LeDoux is a graduate of Can͂on City High School (‘92) and has been a career prosecutor since graduating from the University of Colorado School of Law (’02).

Mr. LeDoux’s prosecutorial career began in the Pueblo County District Attorney’s Office, where he worked for three years, finishing as a member of the Crimes against People/Homicide unit.  In 2006 Mr. LeDoux moved to the District Attorney’s Office in Fremont County, where he became the Chief Deputy District Attorney for the 11th Judicial District prior to running for and being elected District Attorney in 2008.

Mr. LeDoux is 37 years old and lives in Can͂on City with his wife Lacey LeDoux (Jones), a school teacher, and his daughters Sophia and Penelope.
