To Whom It May Concern:
I am announcing my candidacy for the office of District Attorney of the 11th Judicial District. I will seek the nomination of the Republican Party for the 2008 election. Having grown up in Canon City and having spent time throughout the 11th Judicial District, I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve these great communities.
I have spent the last nine years obtaining the necessary education, training and experience to be a prosecuting attorney at the highest level. Upon graduating from the University of Colorado School of Law, I returned to Canon City to work as a legal intern for the DA’s office. Opportunity took me to the DA’s Office in Pueblo. After moving up the ranks to felony prosecutor, I was promoted to the Homicide Unit.
In May of 2006, I was given a long sought after opportunity to return to my hometown as a prosecutor. Growing up in Canon City I appreciated the safety and quality of life that our smaller communities offer. Now that I have a family to raise, I understand even more about how important the way of life in our communities is.
As a prosecutor, I have tried and convicted individuals for Murder in the 1st Degree, Burglary, Sexual Assault on a Child, Menacing, Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Domestic Violence and Manufacturing Methamphetamine to name a few. I have handled numerous high profile cases. I believe that I have a strong reputation within the criminal justice system as a tough, honest and fair prosecuting attorney. I invite you to inquire among law enforcement, the judiciary and the bar of both the Pueblo and Canon City legal communities as to my qualifications. In addition, I am particularly proud to say that of all the trials that I have won, I have never received a sentence of less than what had been offered in plea negotiations. I believe that this track record is indicative of competent, reasonable and efficient case analysis; the essence of a strong District Attorney.
As the District Attorney, I will maintain my strong working relationship with law enforcement. I will implement a “Top 10%” program, under the theory that if the worst 10% of the criminals were removed from our communities 90% of the crime would go away with them. I will work to make the District Attorney’s Office a “paperless” office and adopt new technologies that will increase efficiencies.
In short, I love Canon City and the other communities of the 11th Judicial District, I love being a prosecutor and I have worked hard to develop the necessary skills and experience to be the District Attorney. For these reasons, I seek your support of my campaign for the Office of the District Attorney of the 11th Judicial District in 2008.
Sincerely,
Thom K. LeDoux |
